Remembering the Death of MLK and the North 24th St. Business District
Next year will include the 45th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr on April 4, 1968. As I understand, his death was followed by riots in Omaha and the destruction of the African-American business district on North 24th Street. This business district has never been replaced and long-time Omahans that remember it miss it.
Maybe Omaha should commemorate these events, remember what our country and city lost 45 years ago, and commit to healing that wound.
What do you think?
